Notes from DaVic Gallery: Lucy Qinnuayuak was prolific and drew many different subjects, but surely it is for her whimsical birds that she is best remembered. Very intriguing image of a smaller black bird image within the same larger bird image of different blue color. Feathers are limb like. Three seals follow behind the bird image dragged behind attached by rope to the bird. What I can imagine is that the smaller black bird image could be a kayak hunter and the outer blue bird shape are the water undulations caused by the kayak as it passes by. This must be a very good hunter having caught three seals in this one trip so to Lucy, must be his bird spirit helper.
