Description

‘Chasing the Bear’ by Eegyvudluk Ragee (aka Egevadluq Ragee) – Inuit Art – Cape Dorset 1961 print collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.

Condition:          Right edge needs flattening.

Description by Artist:     No description by artist found.

Notes from DaVic Gallery:   Rare, interesting and certainly gorgeous print design by Eegyvudluk, a.k.a Egevadluq of a hunter with harpoon in hand and two of his dogs giving chase to a polar bear on the run.   The bear stands straight on its hinds displaying sharp ferocious teeth and yet seems more scared running for his life.  The flow is very dynamic and tense for this life or death moment.

“eye” atop syllabic signature denotes female Eegyvudluk on 1961, 1962 prints
