Description
‘Driving Moulting Geese into Stone Pens’ by Kiakshuk – Inuit Art – Cape Dorset 1960 print collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.
Condition: Very Good condition – excellent professional restoration work done for removal from dry-mounted framing, iron inclusions in the paper, couple foxing spots, fading and slight discoloration and for paper handling marks and treatment of tape marks from previous framing.
Description by Artist: No description by artist found.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: There are three print designs by Kiakshuk with the same theme of driving geese into pens and they are all beautiful. In my opinion this is most rare being sealskin stencil. Also this design includes the most elements with 11 men and 15 geese. This print in comparison is not as refined as the 1964 “Chasing Geese into Pens” print, but it sure conveys much action and movement as the 11 men work together herding these geese. Truly amazing print for collectors.
