Notes from DaVic Gallery – Qavavau Manumie invites viewers into a captivating, multi‑layered world with ‘Entering the Bird Realm.’ Centered around a wooden frame that resembles a doorway or sacred enclosure, the composition is filled with meticulous line work and whimsical narrative detail.

Inside the framed portal, three large owls gaze outward, surrounded by hanging feathers, blue flowers, and tiny dancing human figures. Around this sanctuary, an elaborate wooden structure is populated by dozens of birds rendered in both black ink and subtle blue outlines, along with miniature stick figures climbing the beams. Manumie’s controlled use of blue acrylic accents guides the eye through the dense line work, creating a remarkable sense of discovery.

This original work displays Manumie’s signature ability to blend architectural precision with Arctic surrealism. It is a compelling, highly detailed piece that rewards close inspection and will stand out in any collection of contemporary Cape Dorset art.

The blank sheet of letter‑size (8 ½ × 11  in) paper covering part of the image in the scale‑reference picture is provided for size comparison, offering an immediate sense of the drawing’s scale and presence.
