Description
“Inuit Mandala” by Marjorie Esa – Inuit Art from Baker Lake 1985 print collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts
Condition: No condition to report.
Description by Artist: No description by artist found.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: Last print available.
From Esa’s biography it is known she grew up influenced by both her Inuit culture as well as Euro-Canadians as traders and it is not clear how she could be inspired by Indian spiritual practices to create a mandala. Though at first sight it may seem each group of bird heads may be side-by-side copies of the same template, a closer look reveals each is different from each other.
