Description

‘Look for Images’ by Nicotye Samayualie – Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 2014 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.

This Product is ** SOLD **

Condition:          no condition noted.

Description by Artist:     “There’s 10 ravens hidden in the mountain representing me and my siblings.  Two butterflies thinking of my parents and three heart shapes since I have three boys in my life.”  – N Samayualie.  This text is written by hand in the back of the drawing…

Notes from DaVic Gallery:   I don’t know about the ravens, butterflies and hearts. I’m sure they are there, but I found many other figures including an octopus, a caribou, moose antlers, seals, people walking, birds, a nail, and many others … don’t you sometimes stare at things, clouds for example, looking for shapes to form?  Rocky hills are certainly good source for this pastime, finding different shapes and figures forming in front of our very eyes…

This drawing reminds me of “Out on the Land” drawing also by Nicotye but from a different angle …
