Notes from DaVic Gallery:   “Moonlit Crossing” – Peaceful and uneventful sailing across the waters in the middle of surrounding icebergs.  Captain in the cabin and a crew member or passenger in the lower deck look out the windows happy.  The light is dim and bluish as in moonlit skies.  Two happy gulls fly with them.  Not simple to interpret or draw a story from this uneventful and yet calming print caught in a specific moment.  Where they come from and where they are going to and what they are doing?  The boat is modern or clearly not a traditional Inuit boat so in a way this print shows the influence of European travelers and southern neighbors into the culture and activities of the Inuit that would not necessarily or normally venture to navigate the waters on kayak at night.
