In ‘School of Fish Rescuing Humpback Whale,’ Qavavau Manumie reverses the expected narrative of predator and prey, offering instead a vision of empathy and cooperation beneath the waves. The whale’s massive form spans the length of the paper, rendered with Manumie’s characteristic clarity and quiet dignity.
