Description

Untitled (School Year End) by Shuvinai Ashoona – Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 2022 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.

Condition:          No condition noted.  It is common that original drawings will show minor handling marks and probably stains caused by the artist themselves.  It is also common to see, particularly with Shuvinai’s drawings, uneven paper trimming.

Description by Artist:     No description by artist found.

Notes from DaVic Gallery:    There is so much happening in this drawing, where to begin? What does it all mean?  Is this a school or a family room?  As I write this I begin to think this may actually be a family in house because of the portraits hanging on the wall that would most likely hang in a house. I believe we have here three boys and two girls with e first four children showing an epic picture or drawing of an octopus holding a crocodile while a duck is laying eggs on a nest.  Why not.  The girl, the oldest it seems, holds a picture or drawing of a boy and a girl holding a design t-shirt each.

The blank sheet of letter-size (8.5” x 11”) paper covering part of the image in the last picture is for size reference.
