Description by Artist:     ‘Seven Generations Moons – “Indigenous women and our Elders embody environmental protection through the practice of our seven generations principle of decision making. According to the seven generations thinking model we are taught to think about the impacts of our life choices upon the next seven generations especially when engaging with the mother earth. In this painting the elder guides the two young Metis girls who are participating in healing ceremony whereby they water the tree of life. As they pray upon the water and offer it to the tree of life, the sacred tree is nurtured and it creates a healing force manifested through the earth, moon, sky and among all the sacred feminine aspects of creation. With mindfulness our world becomes more fertile, abundant, and radiant..” – Leah Marie Dorion
