‘The Seer’ by Candace Twance – First Nations Woodland Art presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts

Description by Artist:      “The Seer” is my largest painting to date depicts a traditional Ahnishnaabe woman in a spiritual state of mind. She is receiving a vision of travelers approaching, brought to her by her spirit helpers, the winged. Her vision is open to interpretation. Is she receiving a message of warning? Is she being informed that her loved ones have made safe passage? The use of vibrant colored patterns suggests this spirit energy. Ojibway floral designs have been incorporated to pay homage to the artistic work of my ancestors.
