Description

‘Transformation Sedna’ by Pitseolak Qimirpik – Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 2022 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.

Condition:          Minor paper handling marks visible in the back of paper.

Description by Artist:     No description by artist.

Notes from DaVic Gallery:   In this composition we are looking another transformation stage or completion, of the similar composition, ‘Shaman, Sedna Transformation’. Here we no longer see the shaman’s upper body and we see the entire shape of a fish with human face.  The beluga has its fin and the walrus its tail, which was a seal in the other composition.  All this is happening in a beautiful landscape of sea, sun and hills.

Some of Pits’ sculptures represent similar composition of transformation.

The blank sheet of letter-size (8.5” x 11”) paper covering part of the image in the last picture is for size reference.
