Towkie has been a versatile artist throughout her life. She began sewing as a young woman and eventually that talent led to tapestry weaving. Carving came later in life, with a preference for mother and child groups. She began drawing in the mid-seventies with some success, but has recently stopped due to the lack of a place to sell them. Towkie’s husband Peterosie is a carver; her son Stevie is a carver and printer. Her daughter Peepeelee is a printer.
