‘Flight’ by Candace Twance – Woodland Art presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts
Condition: No condition noted.
Description by Artist: “Flight” is newer and I see it as in the same style as “Red Bird” but on a smaller scale. It’s a portrait or figurative work, but it is abstracted. Including suggested birds and my signature marks which suggest life energy. These types of work which feature a face, show a person but also show the life force or influencing energy, maybe their soul. In Anishnabe culture we have spirit helpers or animal spirit helpers and I try to suggest their inclusion in these types of paintings.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: Gorgeous and intriguing abstract portrait of a woman whose face takes the shape or is formed from a bird flying upward representing the lifting of her spirit. Mildly textured, well balanced and bold lines.
