Notes from DaVic Gallery:   There is a story before this laughter.  Perhaps the two men have just finished recalling a mischievous moment from youth — a hunting mishap, a joke retold for the hundredth time, the kind of memory that grows funnier with age. Their laughter is not sudden; it has been building, rippling through the years, returning like a familiar tide.

In ‘Joyful,’ Qavavau Manumie captures that instant when joy becomes visible — when it reshapes the face, softens the eyes, and folds time into a single shared breath.
