Turtle and Snake‘ by First Nations Metis artist Leah Marie Dorion – Original painting presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts

Condition:       No condition to report.

Description by Artist:     ‘Turtle and Snake –  Leah Marie Dorion

Notes from DaVic Gallery:   Beautiful highly textured original mixed media painting that also includes conches.  We see a single turtle representing North America that is created on the back of a giant turtle. The turtle teaches us about patience, stability, grounding, and earth connection.  In the centre of the the turtle, we see the Medicine Wheel, which is an ancient symbol of an entire holistic knowledge system. The wheel represents many teachings regarding our Indigenous way of viewing the world and its cycles.  Snakes originating from each colour of the Medicine Wheel represent our need to regularly dance to the music of Mother Earth.
