Interesting how the negative space available is used to create the main subject while the form is created on its surroundings, the sky, the rock, the soil.  The line delineating the shape of the ptarmigan is really the background being blocked by the white of the bird and only the wing, beak and eye are delineated with black line.  Although the surrounding landscape does not show, the season must be winter and snow may be nearby as the color of the bird’s feathers is white.  Would look great with matching blue matting and aluminum blue 1 ½ in thick frame.
