Description
‘Bird Walk’ by Keeleemeeoomee Samualie – Inuit Art – Cape Dorset 1976 print collection by Dorset Fine Arts, presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.
Condition: Good condition – The print has been professionally restored to remedy marks created from removal of previous framing tape, paper handling marks, and minor discoloration of the paper. A paper tear in the top left bird area has been mended. It has been filled with paper paste, leaving some visible puckering on the paper. The right wing of the center bird appears mildly discolored. It is unknown whether this discoloration is a post-production defect or a result of printing. Faint discoloration from previous matting remains along all margins of the paper. Image and colors are vivid and strong.

Notes from DaVic Gallery: This uplifting print by Keeleemeeoomee Samualie features nine colourful seabirds. Eight of them are dance-walking in a circle around the centre bird that appears to be taking flight. The uneven spacing between the birds, the variation in shapes and the change of the direction of their heads, feet and exposed sides create a playful, dynamic image. Looking at the centre bird with its spread wings and a cheery expression, the viewer cannot help but smile, experiencing the delight of being airborne with the support of the flock. This lively print is sure to brighten any space where it might be displayed.
