Description
Untitled ‘Owl Approaching’ by Eegyvudluk Ragee — Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 1979 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.
Condition: Some minor stains visible throughout the paper caused by the artist while drawing. Minor paper handling marks throughout that are mostly visible when seen at angle to light. This is common in original drawings as Inuit artists would commonly draw at home.
Description by Artist: No description by artist found.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: I would suggest the two perceived layers to be indication of distance with the top 2 birds being a farther distance than the four birds at bottom. Again we see the need for Eegyvudluk to balance: two large birds top or in farther distance, four birds bottom. Left and right sides is also balanced with the same number of birds of the same colour. Finally we see an owl approaching the bottom layer of birds and all birds welcome the owl.
