Description

Untitled ‘Protecting the Tent’ by Eegyvudluk Ragee —  Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 1979 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.

Condition:          Some minor stains visible throughout the paper caused by the artist while drawing.    Minor paper handling marks throughout that are mostly visible when seen at angle to light. This is common in original drawings as Inuit artists would commonly draw at home.

Description by Artist:     No description by artist found.

Notes from DaVic Gallery:   chaotic moment captured in this composition where this summer camp is under attack by a polar bear while the dogs prepare for a violent and deadly fight and the men reinforce the tents and prepare their families inside to fend the predator.  This all happens in the midst of a beautiful sunny day during a season where daylight lasts for the entire 24hrs of the day.
