Description
‘Speaking to the Ancestors‘ by First Nations Dene artist John Rombough – Original Dene Art style painting presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts
Condition: No condition to report.
Description by Artist: “The three Ancestor’s speak to the wolf, welcoming him into the land, surrounded by all the Grandfather rocks. Everything has a spirit within, capturing the moment in time. The tree line is a beautiful place with some areas untouched. The colors are different stages we go through life, everyone has a different story to tell. The wolf is enjoying his stories with the Ancestors while a greyjay watches over.” – John Rombough.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: Complex, vibrant, symbolic … so many details and hidden symbolism. Can you see the three ancestors watching from the hillsides? Can you identify the Grandfather rocks?
John’s background and community is Chipewyan Dene.
