Thinking of Old Days
Description
Untitled ‘Thinking of Old Days’ by Eegyvudluk Ragee – Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 1978 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.
Condition: Some minor stains visible throughout the paper caused by the artist while drawing. Minor paper handling marks throughout that are mostly visible when seen at angle to light. This is common in original drawings as Inuit artists would commonly draw at home.
Description by Artist: No description by artist found.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: Mysterious, symbolic and intriguing composition with two human head figures forming part of the landscape with one over the other’s head indicating the one below thinking of the other. We have a landscape with horizon perspective in three levels of distance, the pink birds farthest, then the blue birds, the green birds closest. It interesting to see that the green birds being the closest are depicted as the smallest. Shrubs of berries indicate spring or summer season same as the background of bright day.
