Description
Untitled (We’re all in it) by Shuvinai Ashoona – Inuit Art from Cape Dorset 2022 original hand drawing collection presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts.
Condition: Paper unevenly trimmed in the lower left area as well as left edge manually by artist. Note that it is common also that original drawings will show minor handling marks and probably stains caused by the artist themselves. It is also common to see, particularly with Shuvinai’s drawings, uneven paper trimming.
Description by Artist: No description by artist found.
Notes from DaVic Gallery: A human, a mermaid, a human walrus, a human octopus, a real octopus and a human-like creature of many many worlds, they all hold hands united on one same planet. A monster seems to be creeping up from underneath the human octopus, is it friendly? All creatures in Shuvinai’s drawings are friendly. I counted over thirty planets covering the creature of many worlds. Some circles were drawn by hand, and some are well drawn that Shuvinai may have used an aid to draw perfect circles. The octopus seems to be cleaning some cans of orange crush and a can of mushroom soup.
The blank sheet of letter-size (8.5” x 11”) paper covering part of the image in the last picture is for size reference.
