Description by Artist: ‘Wolf Design‘ – “Wolf is an important family crest. Revered as a good hunter, the Wolf was often associated with the spirit power a man needed to acquire to become a successful hunter. The Wolf is said to be the land manifestation of the killer whale. According to legend a supernatural white wolf transformed itself into a killer whale and thus the whales show white markings and have a habit of travelling in groups, like wolves do.”

Notes from DaVic Gallery: Wolf Design brings together all the classic forms of Haida art with bold form lines with finely tapering points, well defined U and split U forms, S forms, as well as great use of ovoid forms and balanced use of the ochre and charcoal colors.
